About the Role
Join AECOM’s Electrification & Power team as a Senior Rail Traction Power / Substation Engineer, delivering traction power and substation projects across the UK with opportunities to support international projects. You will be responsible for technical delivery across key projects, ensuring designs are accurate, cost-effective, constructable and compliant with relevant codes and standards. Your work will span the full project lifecycle from feasibility studies and outline design through to detailed design and construction support. Operating at Independent Checker level, you will provide technical oversight, support the development of engineers within the team, and collaborate closely with project managers, clients and stakeholders. You will develop and review design documentation including calculations, reports and specifications, undertake independent technical checks, and provide construction stage design support. Site visits and surveys will form part of your role to inform design development and ensure works are delivered in accordance with design intent. A strong understanding of Health & Safety and CDM requirements is essential.
Experience
Proven experience in traction power and high voltage substation design. Experience delivering projects across feasibility, outline and detailed design stages. Experience acting as CRE / Lead Engineer is advantageous; where prior CRE experience is not held, support and mentoring will be provided. Strong understanding of relevant industry standards and design governance. Low voltage experience is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications
Relevant engineering qualifications and professional accreditation are expected. Demonstrated capability to operate at Independent Checker level and deliver complex rail electrification and power projects.
