About the Role
AECOM is seeking Principal Landscape Planners to join and support the growth of our UK&I Landscape Architecture team. As part of one of the UK&I’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will lead a range of regional and global major projects, including exemplar regeneration, energy transition, and infrastructure schemes. Projects range from Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects to local scale, offering opportunities to work in multi-disciplinary teams, influence design from an early stage, create a lasting landscape legacy, support progress towards net zero, and deliver wider environmental and social benefits.

We are interested in applicants with experience in landscape planning and assessment, particularly in energy transition sectors such as wind, solar, hydrogen, nuclear, storage, and grid connections, as well as residential and defence projects. This role offers the chance to join a recognised and growing team of landscape planning experts.

The successful candidate will be a team player with strong technical skills, motivated to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and buildable solutions in a collaborative, stimulating, and challenging environment. You will also be keen to develop team skills, provide mentoring, and help shape the future direction of landscape planning at AECOM. This role suits a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career within a dynamic and experienced team.

Requirements

Experience
Technically competent in preparing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs), Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments (TVIAs), and evidence-base documents in accordance with best practice. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK planning system as it relates to landscape architecture. Experience in project management including financial control, reporting, and programme management with the ability to manage own budgets. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Competent in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software (preferred). Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civils 3D, Revit, LSS, or ProjectWise is advantageous.

About you
A self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills, able to lead client meetings, conference calls, and workshops. Strong technical ability and leadership skills to inspire and develop the team. Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within multi-disciplinary teams to enhance project delivery. Client-focused with the ability to nurture and maintain client relationships. Committed to continuous growth, innovation, and technical excellence. Able to undertake project management responsibilities including financial and programme management.

Qualifications
Landscape Institute accredited Bachelor’s degree, Diploma and/or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture. Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI). Full UK driving licence to access remote sites.
