About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as an Associate Director - Ecology and play a key role in shaping the future of the environment. You will lead the planning and delivery of ecological inputs for a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors such as energy, water, renewables, defence, and transport. Our projects range from large infrastructure developments to smaller local initiatives, including national and international assignments. Your responsibilities will include producing and technically reviewing ecological assessments such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Protected Species Baseline Reports, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, and Biodiversity Net Gain calculations. You will provide technical leadership to deliver pragmatic solutions, lead consultation and engagement with clients and stakeholders including planning authorities and statutory bodies, and contribute to the development of our technical capabilities by embedding innovation and research. Additionally, you will lead bid and tender production for ecological services and mentor junior staff and peers within a supportive mentoring and coaching framework. Experience
Demonstrable experience in planning and delivering ecological services on projects within the UK or Ireland. Proven ability to lead ecological assessments and manage client relationships.

Proactive and passionate about ecology and innovation. Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to support and develop team members. Excellent communication skills for engaging with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. A commitment to Health and Safety and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
Membership of an appropriate professional institution (such as CIEEM) with evidence of working towards Chartership. Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area, including holding any relevant protected species licences. A willingness to contribute to the growth and technical development of the team.
