About the Role
Tetra Tech is seeking an Associate Director - Ecology to join our Ecology team. This is a senior role offering the opportunity to lead ecological growth and shape sustainable development across London and the South East. You will support a diverse portfolio including residential-led regeneration, commercial development, infrastructure, aviation, data centres, logistics, urban greening and major transport projects. Working alongside planners, environmental managers, landscape architects and engineers, you will help clients navigate planning requirements, Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), protected species constraints and wider environmental considerations within one of the UK's most dynamic development markets.
As an Associate Ecologist, you will lead complex ecological projects across multiple sectors, providing strategic advice and ensuring high-quality technical outputs. Acting as Project Director or Technical Lead, you will oversee project teams, manage client relationships and drive commercial performance. You will develop and maintain client accounts, identify growth opportunities and support business development activities.
In addition to project delivery, you will mentor and develop ecologists at all career stages, promoting technical excellence, knowledge sharing and team growth. This role offers significant influence over strategy, service delivery and the long-term success of the London ecology business.
Your expertise will directly impact major development, infrastructure and environmental projects, helping clients manage ecological risks, meet planning requirements and achieve positive biodiversity outcomes. You will establish strong client relationships, deliver a portfolio of projects, contribute to financial performance and support improvements in team capability and project delivery.
Over time, you will help shape the strategic direction of the London ecology business, establish yourself as a recognised technical leader and contribute to nationally significant infrastructure, development and renewable energy projects.
Tetra Tech is a leading global consulting and engineering firm providing a collaborative environment that supports innovation, individual performance and creativity. We deliver sustainable and resilient solutions for public and private sector clients worldwide. We are committed to equality and will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements.
