About the Role
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking a Senior Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join our growing team and deliver hydraulic modelling and catchment strategies across AMP8 and AMP9 programmes. You will lead hydraulic modelling efforts that protect communities by developing and quality-assuring hydraulic solutions from feasibility through to outline and detailed design. This role involves leading small project teams and providing technical direction on urban drainage, Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs), Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), and catchment investment planning.
Your impact will be immediate in strengthening modelling assurance and solution delivery for high-profile wastewater programmes. In the medium term, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, improve modelling workflows, and influence investment decisions that reduce pollution and flood risk. Longer term, there are opportunities to progress to technical lead or programme roles, shaping standards and digital capability across national frameworks.
Core capabilities include hydraulic modelling leadership with proven expertise in building, calibrating, and interpreting InfoWorks ICM models to derive robust catchment strategies; solution development and design input by translating model outputs into outline and detailed designs, options appraisal, and clear implementation plans; quality, governance, and standards through producing compliant, auditable modelling reports and maintaining governance across project portfolios; team leadership and client engagement by mentoring modellers and presenting complex findings to clients and stakeholders; and digital tools and data fluency with advanced Excel and Power BI skills, with familiarity in GIS, Python, FME, or Optimatics considered advantageous.
Experience
Proven experience building, calibrating, and interpreting InfoWorks ICM hydraulic models. Demonstrable track record in delivering hydraulic modelling and catchment strategies across wastewater programmes. Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior modellers. Strong client engagement skills with the ability to present complex findings clearly.
About you
Proactive and collaborative professional with strong leadership skills. Able to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects. Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with flexibility for site and client visits. Passionate about delivering sustainable and resilient water infrastructure solutions.
Qualifications
Degree in a relevant technical field is expected. Postgraduate qualification, chartership or working towards it, and professional affiliation (CIWEM, ICE, IWater) are desirable.
