About the Role
AECOM is seeking an Associate Director - Landscape Architecture to join and support the growth of our UK&I Landscape Architecture team. As part of one of the UK&I’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will lead a range of regional and global major projects, including exemplar regeneration, energy transition, and infrastructure schemes. Projects range from Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects to local scale, offering the opportunity to work in multi-disciplinary teams, influencing design from an early stage to create a lasting landscape legacy while supporting progress towards net zero and delivering wider environmental and social benefits.
We are looking for experts in landscape planning and assessment, particularly in energy transition sectors such as wind, solar, hydrogen, nuclear, storage, and grid connections, as well as residential and defence projects. This role offers the chance to join a recognised and growing team of landscape planning experts. The successful candidate will be a team player with strong technical skills, motivated to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and buildable solutions in a collaborative, stimulating, and challenging environment. You will also be expected to develop team skills, provide mentoring, and help shape the future direction of landscape planning at AECOM.

Job Responsibilities
- Undertake site survey and analysis in the field, using innovative processes to deliver successful outcomes.
- Produce and/or oversee the production of reports, drawings, and other technical documentation with appropriate detail for various stages of development, assessment, and design.
- Act as a client-facing representative, responding to client requirements and nurturing client relationships.
- Lead clear communication through conference calls, meetings, and workshops.
- Provide technical guidance, leadership, and inspiration to develop the team.
- Support a culture of continuous growth, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Collaborate iteratively with other technical disciplines within multi-disciplinary teams to enhance project delivery.
- Manage projects including contractual, financial, and programme management responsibilities.
- Understand and apply AECOM procedures and their importance to projects.
Experience
- Technically competent in preparing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs), Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments (TVIAs), and evidence-base documents in accordance with best practice.
- Experience responding to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIP) examinations and public inquiries is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK planning system as it relates to landscape architecture.
- Experience in project management including financial control, reporting, programme management, and budget management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Competent in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Cloud software is preferred.
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, LSS, or ProjectWise is advantageous.

Qualifications
- Landscape Institute accredited Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, and/or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
- Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute.
- Full UK driving license.
