As an Associate Risk Manager, you will lead risk management activities at strategic, programme or project level across multiple clients. You will take ownership of key accounts, influence commercial outcomes, mentor junior staff, drive internal initiatives and help build the team’s profile internally and externally.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing, implementing and managing risk management procedures and processes for clients
- Engaging and communicating with senior stakeholders in the risk management process
- Leading and developing teams to establish a proactive risk management culture
- Acting as a go-to contact for risk matters, promoting awareness, training and application of risk management
- Presenting confidently in client workshops and meetings
- Ensuring high quality risk information is maintained in compliance with audit requirements
- Producing QRAs (QCRA and QSRA) using specialist software and detailed reporting
- Analysing data to identify risks and escalating as necessary
- Producing relevant risk reporting to support decision making
- Regularly updating clients on risk status and potential impacts
- Providing unique risk insights including emerging risks across client projects
In addition, you will mentor and develop Risk Analysts and Managers, contribute to team upskilling through knowledge sharing and training, support resource planning and delivery oversight, and play a leading role in business development including bids, proposals and service line growth. You will represent the Risk Management service line at events and bring external market insight and policy developments into project delivery and service improvement.

Experience
- Degree qualified, preferably in mathematics or a construction-related discipline
- Chartered or specialist risk qualification (e.g. IRM Cert) and membership of a professional risk body such as IRM or APM
- Experience in PMO within risk and control or project management, managing risk registers, facilitating risk workshops, supporting qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, and reporting risk exposure across complex projects
- Experience working on large complex engineering projects in risk management, ideally in nuclear, energy or utility sectors
- Excellent understanding of schedule management, estimating and cost management principles
- Strong data analysis and technical skills with extensive experience using risk management software such as Safran, ARM, Acumen and producing QRAs (QCRA and QSRA)
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite
- Consultancy experience desirable
- Proven ability to build and manage senior client relationships and deliver client presentations
- Experience mentoring and developing junior colleagues
- Strong written, verbal, listening and presentation skills with ability to deliver high quality work under pressure
- Strategic thinker with commercial mindset, pro-active approach and problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership skills with a collaborative style, able to provide guidance, advice and training
- Experience working in client-focused environments with commitment to excellent client service
- Strong business development skills with evidence of growing and establishing a network in the risk management industry
- Keen interest and understanding of market issues, events and emerging risks relevant to projects
