About the Role
Join AECOM’s dynamic Nature team as an Associate Director - Environmental and Ecological Compliance Lead, providing technical leadership for Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) and Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) services across the UK & Ireland. This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow a nationally significant environmental compliance service, working from any UK office location including Basingstoke, Cambridge, and Leeds.

You will build and manage a high-quality network of specialist delivery partners, ensuring strong technical leadership, quality assurance, and supply chain development to create a scalable environmental compliance business supporting some of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects. Collaborating with contractors, developers, and project teams, you will help clients deliver planning, Development Consent Order (DCO), and environmental consent commitments during construction.

Key responsibilities include acting as AECOM’s UK & Ireland lead for ECoW and EnvCoW services, serving as Lead Verifier for related deliverables, ensuring projects are properly resourced and delivered to AECOM’s quality standards, and providing expert advice on construction-phase ecological risk management and environmental compliance. You will also support the growth of secondary consents service lines and wider Clerk of Works services such as arboriculture and archaeology through integrated environmental compliance solutions.

Become part of AECOM’s industry-leading Environment Business Line, working alongside specialists in ecology, environmental assessment, nature-based solutions, arboriculture, archaeology, impact assessment, and environmental management. This role offers a platform for career development and industry leadership on some of the UK’s largest infrastructure and DCO programmes.

Enjoy a range of personalised benefits including career development opportunities, flexible hybrid working, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days, all designed to support your future and well-being.
