About the Role
Tetra Tech Europe is seeking an EIA & Sustainability Consultant to contribute to some of the UK’s most high-profile infrastructure projects across sectors including renewable energy, data centres, urban development, airports and other nationally significant infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced technical specialists, project managers and client teams to shape robust environmental assessments, climate change deliverables and practical sustainability strategies that support better project outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include contributing to EIA, sustainability and climate change workstreams from feasibility and site selection through to Environmental Statements, EIA Reports, Examination and post-consent activities. Tasks include preparing EIA screening and scoping reports, drafting and reviewing Environmental Statement and EIA Report chapters, undertaking carbon calculations and Excel analysis, and producing sustainability reporting deliverables.
You will coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs, oversee quality, identify technical gaps and ensure outputs meet legislative requirements, industry best practice and client expectations. Working closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, technical specialists, graduates and junior consultants, you will support the successful delivery of complex projects.
The role offers opportunities to contribute to bids, support budget and cost reporting, develop client relationships and build experience in coaching and mentoring less experienced colleagues. As your experience grows, you may lead larger workstreams and infrastructure projects, manage client relationships and progress towards Senior Consultant level.
This role suits someone who values technical variety, collaborative project delivery and the flexibility to work effectively across office, remote and site-based environments.
Experience
Practical experience in EIA and/or sustainability consultancy, delivering EIA, climate change, sustainability or corporate projects. Experience working on EIA projects across a range of sectors is essential. Confident in preparing and technically reviewing screening and scoping reports, Environmental Statements and EIA Reports. Knowledge of the Town and Country Planning EIA Regulations across the UK is essential; knowledge of the Planning Act and Infrastructure Planning EIA Regulations is beneficial.
Strong Excel analysis and report-writing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders. Experience producing clear, concise and technically accurate reports, interpreting complex environmental information and presenting findings accessibly.
Ability to review technical inputs and project deliverables to ensure accuracy, consistency, compliance and appropriateness. Capable of identifying technical gaps and providing constructive input to strengthen quality.
Experience supporting multidisciplinary teams in coordinating complex project programmes, monitoring progress, identifying delivery risks and maintaining oversight of key milestones. Experience in supporting and developing graduates and junior consultants through guidance, feedback and knowledge sharing is desirable.
About you
Confident, detail-oriented and able to work independently. Strong judgement and communication skills to clearly convey technical information. Collaborative team player who supports continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Motivated by technical variety and delivering high-quality outcomes in a flexible working environment.
Qualifications
Relevant degree required; a supporting master’s degree is advantageous. Practitioner membership of ISEP is beneficial. Equivalent professional experience will be considered alongside formal qualifications.
