About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technical Support Engineer to join our team at Hampton Sewage Treatment Works. You will provide comprehensive technical support to the Electrical Services team across process operations and Capital Delivery. Your responsibilities will include scrutinising the installation of new assets to ensure compliance with Thames Water Utilities Limited (TWUL) asset standards and delivering directly managed projects.

Thames Water operates extensive high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical power networks that are critical to water production and waste treatment for over 16 million customers. Your role will focus on maintaining the safe and reliable operation of these vital electrical assets.

Key duties include providing technical support and advice on electrical system operation and maintenance, contributing to risk management, supporting HV and complex LV asset upgrade schemes, conducting failure investigations and producing reports, managing maintenance records and asset registers, undertaking asset assessments, supporting site inspections, and coaching colleagues to improve technical competence and prepare for Authorised Person appointments.

You will also review risk assessments and method statements to ensure electrical safety, assess contractor safety procedures, and participate in an out-of-hours support system covering electrical networks. Appointment as an Authorised Person for HV and LV networks will be achieved through a development plan.

Experience
- Proven working experience in industrial electrical power and engineering within a large industrial utility or water company
- Experience in mentoring and coaching others
- Experience producing maintenance and fault-finding activity reports
- Operational experience as an Authorised Person
- Engaging effectively with process operations teams, contractors, and third parties

About you
- Strong knowledge of electrical technology and electrical safety procedures
- Understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations and their application
- Working knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly electrical safety rules and procedures
- Ability to provide expert technical support and resolve complex electrical issues
- Motivated to support and develop others through coaching and mentoring

Qualifications
- HNC or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or significant related experience
- Formal training in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671
- Appointment or readiness for appointment as an Authorised Person for HV or LV systems
