Salary
Up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, with potential to increase by £8,000-£10,000 through standby rota payments and overtime upon completion of essential company training
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Waste Team at Crossness STW. You will apply your mechanical and electrical expertise to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision. Your work will ensure our sites remain operational, helping to reduce pollution and positively impact the environment.
- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs promptly to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults during incidents.
- Perform planned maintenance on electrical equipment following company procedures to minimise breakdowns.
- Provide technical advice and support to the wider team, including training technical trainees if required.
- Work with technical equipment such as pumps and control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems (VSDs), automatic valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided.

Experience
- Considerable experience in electrical systems, ideally gained through a time-served apprenticeship in the engineering sector or equivalent NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical engineering.
- Proven experience maintaining, testing, installing, and fault diagnosing electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently.
- Experience working with 3-phase electrical systems.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies and procedures are essential.
- Physical fitness to work in confined spaces, with successful completion of relevant training.

- Holds a full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Qualifications in BS7671 or 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations.
- Completion of role-specific training to meet safety and competency requirements.
