38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities
Salary
Up to £42,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, with potential to increase by £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our team at the Thames Gateway water production site, home to the UK's only large-scale desalination plant with a capacity of up to 75 million litres of water per day. This strategic site plays a key role in Thames Water's drought plan. You will work on electrical assets across the site alongside the process team, participating in multiple disciplined teams that follow a robust maintenance plan. Your responsibilities will include reactive and planned maintenance, electrical fault finding, installation projects, project commissioning, and emergency breakdown repairs.
Your role will be vital in helping reduce environmental impact and pollution from our sites. You will ensure health, safety, and well-being for yourself and others by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water guidelines. You will record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify future risks, and recommend solutions. Additionally, you will provide specialist technical advice, coach and develop staff including apprentices, and deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or holding NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with 18th Edition wiring regulations preferred but training can be provided
- HV awareness beneficial but not essential

Qualifications
- Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering
- NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering preferred
