Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 15:36, 38 hours per week. Includes participation in a call-out rota with additional payment.

Salary
Up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Additional earnings of £8,000-£10,000 per annum possible through standby rota payments and overtime upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team within the Cherwell area of the Thames Valley North Wastewater Operations Region. This role offers the opportunity to work within a close-knit, high-performing team committed to maintaining high standards. You will be responsible for ensuring all electrical equipment across wastewater treatment sites operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. Your duties will include proactive and reactive maintenance of electrical assets, investigating and repairing plant failures promptly to avoid process interruptions, and servicing or replacing equipment. You will work on various pumps, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves, penstocks, measurement instruments, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Supporting local maintenance teams with planned and breakdown maintenance activities on electromechanical wastewater assets will be key. You will provide technical advice, training support for trainees, undertake fault diagnostics, interpret and update electrical drawings, and monitor treatment processes via the SCADA system, responding to alarms as necessary. All PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided. This role offers excellent learning and development potential, including opportunities to cross-skill across multiple engineering disciplines and broaden operational knowledge.

Requirements

Experience
Considerable experience in electrical and systems maintenance. Proven ability to maintain, test, install, and diagnose faults on electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently. Experience working with 3-phase electrical systems is essential.

Self-motivated with a disciplined, can-do attitude and a strong desire to learn. Able to take ownership of fault response, demonstrating curiosity to fully understand problems and identify effective solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team. Physically fit to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. Willingness to participate in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota after training and assessment. Prepared to undertake role-specific safety and competency training. Committed to health and safety standards and procedures.

Qualifications
Time-served apprenticeship in an engineering sector or equivalent. NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical engineering. Qualifications in BS7671 or 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations. Full UK driving licence is essential.
