38 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities
Salary
Up to £42,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to work at our Sewage Pumping Site in Newbury. You will use your electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault-diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. Your work ensures all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers and helps reduce pollution from our sites, making a real environmental impact.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring health, safety, and well-being by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines. You will undertake both reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms, fault-find, fix or escalate issues, and install new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations. You will record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify future risks, and recommend changes.
You will provide specialist technical advice, coach and train staff including apprentices, and deliver excellent customer service by interacting professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
All PPE, tools, a van, and fuel card are provided.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering.
- 18th Edition preferred but training can be provided.
- Proven problem solver able to identify issues and implement or escalate solutions.
- Experience providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.

Qualifications
- NVQ or C&G Level 3 in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- 18th Edition wiring regulations preferred but not essential as training is available.
