Engineering Project Manager


Location
Rye Meads Sewage Treatment Works, Hertfordshire. You will be on site up to 4 days a week and will be required to travel to multiple sites depending on the projects. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required. A car allowance is paid monthly.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
Salary
Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills, plus £4,500 car allowance.
About the Role
Are you an Engineering Project Manager who thrives on being hands-on and present on site? Join Thames Water Utilities Limited and take the lead on engineering projects that keep communities moving. You will manage and deliver a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical, and ICA projects typically valued between £100,000 and £1 million each. You will be individually responsible for multiple live projects and involved in scoping and tendering phases for others.
This fast-paced, hands-on role involves shaping project briefs, overseeing construction in line with in-house policies and industry standards, and ensuring full compliance with CDM regulations. You will work closely with operations teams and contractors to develop innovative, cost-effective, and low-risk solutions that improve site efficiency and deliver value for customers.
Your responsibilities will include enforcing a zero-compromise health and safety policy, undertaking monthly audits, maintaining compliance with Asset Standards and professional codes of conduct, and overseeing commissioning, training, and handover of completed projects. You will ensure all completion documents such as test certificates, operation and maintenance manuals, health and safety files, and as-constructed drawings are available and handed over to operations teams.

Experience
Experience in Construction or Engineering Project Management is essential. Proven ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously and coordinate with various stakeholders including internal colleagues, site employees, and external contractors.
About you
You are a proactive problem-solver who can work with minimum supervision, is self-motivated, driven, and uses initiative to deliver high-quality work. You understand Health and Safety standards, particularly relating to construction works and CDM regulations, with additional training provided. You have excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with delivery partners and contractors.
Qualifications
Preferably have a background in Engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering. Formal qualifications such as a BTEC/HND or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline are strongly encouraged. Knowledge of Clean Water Processing and/or Wastewater Treatment is advantageous.
