About the Role
The Environment and Sustainability Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards around Health, Safety, and Environmental matters, which are key objectives within BT's corporate strategy. This role is pivotal in maintaining BT's ISO14001 accreditation, underpinning environmental compliance, and supporting contracts worth over £3 billion. You will be responsible for the effective management of BT's Environmental Management System (EMS), with a particular focus on Waste Management and the Natural Environment.

Key responsibilities include serving as Site Aspect Lead for BT's EMS, overseeing Waste Management and Natural Environment sub-aspects, maintaining ISO14001 accreditation, and ensuring ongoing compliance with environmental legislation such as Simpler Recycling and the Deposit Return Scheme. You will lead and coordinate cross-functional teams and working groups, manage internal audit actions including the closure of major non-conformances, and support the delivery of BT's Group HSE policy and broader ESG initiatives including biodiversity and sustainability programmes.

Additional duties involve providing specialist advice and guidance on environmental risks, compliance, and best practices; monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators, audit actions, and compliance status; developing and delivering communications, training, and guidance to internal and external stakeholders; ensuring all relevant policies, procedures, and processes are up to date and compliant with statutory and business requirements; and supporting the development and implementation of environmental projects and initiatives such as waste management and protected species guidance.
