About the Role
Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy champion, is seeking an Environmental Manager to provide project-specific environmental management, compliance assurance, and specialist environmental advice for the Dogger Bank South (DBS) project. This role covers all project phases including development, construction, commissioning, operations readiness, and decommissioning. You will work closely with the project team, package managers, contractors, consents team, and site representatives to ensure compliance with legislation, Development Consent Orders, Deemed Marine Licences, consent commitments, Environmental Management Plans, ISO 14001 standards, and other project-specific requirements.

Your responsibilities will include delivering environmental assurance by monitoring contractor implementation, supporting risk management, reviewing environmental performance, managing incidents and non-conformances, and promoting continual improvement throughout project delivery. You will act as a key environmental interface between Masdar, contractors, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance and effective communication.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental management, including at least 2–3 years in offshore wind, marine infrastructure, or major infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing environmental compliance related to Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Deemed Marine Licences (DMLs), marine permits, and major infrastructure consent regimes.
- Demonstrable knowledge and application of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems in large infrastructure or offshore projects.
- Experience reviewing contractor environmental documentation such as Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), CEMPs, RAMS, legal registers, monitoring plans, waste management plans, and emergency response procedures.
- Experience supporting environmental compliance across project development, construction, and operational phases including contractor and supply chain assurance.

- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, permitting, consent compliance, and DCO/DML obligations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.
- Skilled in digital tools for reporting, remote engagement, and data analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure offshore environments.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a positive safety and environmental culture.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a consultative approach and ability to manage cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate, IEMA Practitioner Membership, or Certified Environmental Auditor are desirable.
- GWO Certifications including Working at Heights, Sea Survival, Fire Awareness, First Aid, and Manual Handling.
- Valid and up-to-date OGUK Offshore Medical Certificate.
- Awareness or training in CDM 2015 regulations and understanding of roles and responsibilities under UK Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.
