About the Role
Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy champion and a global leader in renewable energy and green hydrogen technologies, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of grid connections for the UK Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) portfolio. This role also provides support to global offshore wind projects as required. The Senior Electrical Engineer will focus on the electrical design aspects of grid connections, plant system design, contractor management, coordination of technical drawings and studies, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams including development, construction, and procurement, and interface with external stakeholders such as BOP contractors, BESS OEMs, Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), Transmission Owners (TOs), and technical consultants. Responsibilities include preparing and agreeing project specifications, budgets, and schedules with contractors and clients to support successful project delivery.
Key responsibilities include delivering electrical system design and grid integration, ensuring compliance with power system design standards and connection agreements, reviewing design documents, managing contractor interfaces, liaising with DNO/TO, conducting project screening and due diligence, performing preliminary and concept electrical HV interfacing design, supporting project planning and resource management, preparing RFP and tender documents, evaluating technical bids, reviewing EPC contracts and PPAs, supporting HAZOPS and safety reviews, attending site and factory acceptance tests, and managing BoP contract activities related to electrical aspects of renewable energy projects.
The role also involves reviewing and supervising electrical consultants’ work, adhering to Masdar’s information security policies, and ensuring the protection of company assets and information.
Experience
4 to 7 years of experience in the power generation, distribution, or transmission industry.
Proven track record in successful delivery of power projects through design, execution, and commissioning stages.
Experience with UK Grid market management and commercial understanding, especially DNO connections.
Experience in development and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of conventional generation and renewable energy technologies.
Strong engineering principles and project management skills.
Effective communication and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, diverse environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks, negotiate, influence, and manage cross-functional teams.

Qualifications
