About the Role
Masdar, a global clean energy leader established in 2006, is seeking a Vice President Commercial to lead its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) commercial activities and team. This role requires a deep understanding of wholesale power markets, battery storage markets, competitive landscapes, relevant regulations, and routes to market in regions where Masdar operates or plans to expand. You will define route to market strategies, advise on trading contract negotiations to optimize BESS revenue streams, and incorporate AI and big data into commercial asset management processes.

Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive knowledge of BESS and electricity markets globally, analyzing regulatory impacts on revenue, building internal market intelligence and modeling capabilities, and supporting the BESS strategy aligned with Masdar’s vision. You will analyze market developments, interpret third-party revenue data, and develop monetisation strategies considering risk, credit, accounting, and tax factors.

As a team leader, you will organize and supervise subordinates, provide training and feedback, and manage reporting on projects throughout their lifecycle. You will liaise with energy storage teams to track project performance, contribute business development insights, and ensure project objectives are met. Additionally, you will develop a reporting strategy using big data and AI tools to monitor asset and trading performance, as well as asset management metrics such as availability and capacity testing.

This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple BESS projects in a fast-paced, diverse environment.

Experience
8 to 10 years in utility scale renewable energy project development or large real estate projects, with specific experience in BESS commercial performance metrics and team management. Proven ability in granular budgeting and managing multiple projects from inception to ready-to-build (RTB).

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Science, Engineering, or any energy or sustainability-related field preferred.
