About the Role
As an Environmental Pollution Technician, you will play a vital role in protecting and enhancing the environment across the region. This hands-on role involves working outdoors responding to pollution and environmental incidents, supporting investigations, and helping to reduce pollution to protect local watercourses. You will collect samples, gather evidence, assess environmental impacts, and deploy mitigation measures to minimise environmental harm and restore affected areas. When not attending incidents, you will support the Dynamic Sewer Visualisation (DSV) programme by installing and maintaining monitoring equipment to identify issues early. Additionally, you will ensure pollution response equipment is maintained, stocked, and ready for action, while supporting wider environmental improvement initiatives across the business. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference every day and be part of a team committed to environmental protection.
Experience
Experience within the environmental or water industry is beneficial but not essential. We value a positive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
About you
You will enjoy working outdoors and be comfortable working independently. You must have a genuine passion for protecting the environment and be able to work safely in a variety of environments and weather conditions. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities. A proactive, adaptable, and resilient approach to work is required, as well as strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Confidence using digital systems and technology is important. You must hold a full UK manual driving licence and be available to participate in a standby rota and out-of-hours working.
