Location
Based anywhere in the Thames Valley, Home Counties, and London area with travel across various Thames Water sites.

Hours
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including a standby rota with additional payment. Opportunity to earn overtime at time and a half or double rates.

Salary
Up to £54,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role
Join Thames Water's waste treatment team as a Generator Field Service Engineer responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimising the performance of a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines. You will carry out planned and unplanned maintenance across a geographical region, working closely with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure maintenance is completed safely, efficiently, and within budget. Duties include completing accurate service records and reports, identifying parts and consumables required, and demonstrating a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety, and well-being. You will also provide excellent customer service and support team members by sharing skills gained from product training. All PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven hands-on experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
- In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Ability to carry out thorough, comprehensive, and methodical diagnostics on engines, generators, and associated systems.
- Experience with natural/bio/AD gas engines, CHP, and gas systems is desirable but not essential.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrates a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety, and well-being.
- Ability to operate and optimise assets using engine/generator controls such as ComAp, DIA.NE, and TEM Evo.
- Full UK driving licence.

Qualifications
- Ideally NVQ/C&G or an engine manufacturer's qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Electrical qualification is an advantage but not essential.
