About the Role
Join Cundall’s leading Sustainability & Building Physics team, a key part of our international business and a recognised leader in sustainability worldwide. Our team is passionate about designing innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient solutions that minimise the use of natural resources. We are looking for graduates who want to make a positive environmental impact and contribute to improving homes, offices, industry, and communities.
As a Graduate Sustainability Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative and award-winning projects such as the Hong Kong Science Park, Australia’s first 6 star Green Star community, and the largest biomedical precinct in the Southern Hemisphere.
Working under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will develop your skills in energy modelling and assist in creating energy and sustainability strategies for new and existing buildings. Your work will span several key areas including building physics and parametric modelling, building performance and operational energy optimisation, certification and compliance, health and wellbeing guidance, net zero and whole life carbon services, and sustainability design and ESG services.
As you grow professionally, you will be encouraged and supported to pursue Chartership through one of our accredited training schemes, with increasing responsibility and autonomy over time.
Experience
On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree. Desirable to have or be working towards a BEng/MEng degree in Sustainable Engineering, the Built Environment, or an equivalent qualification. Demonstrable knowledge of building physics, especially heat transfer, energy, thermal comfort, and natural ventilation. Experience or understanding of climate-based daylighting analysis, operational energy calculation (TM54), sustainability rating tools such as BREEAM, and life cycle carbon costing is beneficial.
About you
You are organised and methodical in managing tasks and priorities, striving to meet deadlines. Collaborative and empathetic, you communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders. You use your initiative to overcome challenges and maintain a positive, can-do attitude. A keen interest in digital engineering is important, ideally with knowledge of parametric modelling techniques (Grasshopper or Dynamo) or at least one modern programming language such as Python, C#, or VB.
Qualifications
Right to work in the UK is required; sponsorship is not provided. You should be on track to achieve or have achieved a relevant degree as outlined above. Commitment to professional development and working towards Chartership is expected.
