About the Role
Join Cundall’s leading Sustainability & Building Physics team, a key part of our international business and a recognised global leader in sustainability. Our team is passionate about designing innovative, sustainable, and energy-efficient solutions that minimise the use of natural resources. We are looking for graduates who want to make a positive impact on the environment and contribute to sustainable homes, offices, industry, and communities.
As a Graduate Sustainability Engineer, you will work on exciting sustainable design projects in the UK and worldwide, including award-winning developments such as the Hong Kong Science Park, Australia’s first 6 star Green Star community, and the largest biomedical precinct in the Southern Hemisphere.
Working under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will develop your skills in energy modelling and assist in creating energy and sustainability strategies for new and existing buildings. Your work will span several key areas including building physics and parametric modelling, building performance optimisation, certification and compliance, health and wellbeing guidance, net zero and whole life carbon services, and sustainability design and ESG services.
As you grow professionally, you will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility and be supported in working towards Chartership through our accredited training schemes.
Experience
On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree. Desirable to have or be working towards a BEng/MEng degree in Sustainable Engineering, Built Environment, or equivalent.
Demonstrable knowledge of building physics, including heat transfer, energy, thermal comfort, and natural ventilation.
Experience or knowledge of climate-based daylighting analysis, operational energy calculation (TM54), sustainability rating tools such as BREEAM, and life cycle carbon costing is beneficial.
Understanding of parametric modelling techniques (Grasshopper or Dynamo) or proficiency in a modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, VB) is advantageous.
About you
Organised and methodical in managing tasks and priorities, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines.
Collaborative and empathetic, with excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Proactive and positive, able to use initiative to overcome challenges and maintain a can-do attitude.
Qualifications
Right to work in the UK is required; sponsorship is not provided.
Degree qualification on track to meet or exceed a 2:2 classification in a relevant discipline.
Commitment to professional development and working towards Chartership.
