Initially based at Forestry England’s Yorkshire Office in Pickering, moving to Dalby Forest Office in autumn 2027. Regular travel around Forestry England’s estate in Yorkshire required, with occasional trips outside Yorkshire for meetings, which may require overnight stays.

About the Role
As Head of Forestry and Timber for Yorkshire, you will direct timber trading and forest management activities, inspiring and leading the Sustainable Forestry Team to deliver Forestry England’s Business Plan and Strategy. This role involves close collaboration with regional and national teams to ensure a resilient, productive, and financially sustainable forestry estate that delivers high-quality environmental outcomes and increased natural capital value. You will champion improvements in health and safety culture, maintain UKWAS accreditation, encourage effective and efficient programme delivery, and promote innovation alongside climate change adaptation and resilience. You will be part of a passionate team dedicated to growing the nation’s forests, creating amazing places and experiences, providing vital wildlife habitats, improving air quality, and producing sustainable timber.

Experience
Proven leadership in forestry management, timber trading, or related fields. Experience working collaboratively across teams and delivering strategic business plans. Demonstrated ability to manage health and safety culture and maintain accreditation standards.
