About the Role
With decades of experience in carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen, and low carbon fuels and chemicals, Kent is a leader in reducing humanity’s climate impact. We have contributed to major UK Low Carbon Developments including HyNet Low Carbon Hydrogen, Viking CCS, Grenian Green Hydrogen, and Velocys Waste to Jet. We are seeking a Hydrogen and Derivatives Consultant to provide technical leadership in hydrogen and derivatives production, transmission, and use.
The successful candidate will proactively win work and deliver for our clients, supporting consultancy business development through technical presentations and proposal preparation. You will manage hydrogen and derivatives studies including screening, feasibility, conceptual definition, and FEED/Detailed Design projects as a Technology Manager. Responsibilities include managing third-party licensors and specialist vendors, integrating their work, and ensuring projects meet the highest standards within budget.
You will engage with clients closely, prepare reports and presentations, attend energy transition conferences, and lead multi-disciplinary teams. This role requires full technical ownership of assigned work and active participation in industry groups.
Experience
- Extensive experience in Blue and Green Hydrogen Study, FEED, and Engineering management
- Proven leadership managing engineers and specialists across disciplines
- Experience managing studies of varying durations and multiple teams
- In-depth knowledge of Green, Blue, and Turquoise hydrogen production, especially electrolysis, liquefaction, storage, and transport
- Strong knowledge of Green Hydrogen Plant design, including Wind Farm and Solar Farm systems and Electrolyser units
- Experience with Derivatives plant design and supporting utility systems
- Conceptual design experience in onshore downstream/refinery industry
- Ability to manage multi-discipline engineering teams
- Skilled in preparing cost estimates, technical reports, and presentations
- Excellent client interfacing and project management skills
- Practical, innovative, and pragmatic problem-solving approach
- Understanding of construction requirements and option limitations
About you
- Chartered Engineer with a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
- Capable of managing multiple tasks independently within schedules and budgets
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
- Hands-on approach to technical management and study development
- Strong planning and forecasting abilities
- Committed to Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment, and Quality standards
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer status
