Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota payments. Overtime opportunities can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £47,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Technician to join our Wastewater team based at Greenwich Storm. You will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams including systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians. Your responsibilities will include installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plants, and proactively identifying and reporting works for enhancement. You will contribute to delivering cost-effective improvements to assets and systems, helping to reduce pollution and improve Thames Water's environmental impact.
Key duties include ensuring health, safety, and wellbeing by complying with regulations and guidelines; carrying out planned and defect maintenance on wastewater assets; recording work and asset information to improve business performance; providing specialist technical advice; coaching and developing staff including apprentices; and delivering excellent customer service to internal and external customers in a professional and respectful manner.
All PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
- Proven experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation.
- Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Knowledge and experience working with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), including management and programming.
- Ability to read and fault find from circuit diagrams.
- Previous experience with inverter drives.
- Understanding of Wonderware and Clear SCADA is desirable.
- Experience working in a safety-conscious environment with awareness of relevant Health and Safety issues.

Qualifications
- Qualified to HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control and automation discipline.
- Preferably holds an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
