About the Role
We currently have an opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Technician to join our waste pumping team based at Crossness. You will work on all aspects of technology including installations, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs. This covers SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, associated PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), process control networks, and instrumentation.
You will collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams alongside operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact by actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
Key responsibilities include carrying out instrumentation, control, and automation maintenance on a variety of water production assets, including planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance. You will liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers where necessary.
The role also involves investigating plant failures and implementing repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the supply process. You will conduct risk assessments and create method statements to safely carry out maintenance activities.
Additionally, you will provide specialist technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, support training for technical trainees, and contribute to project development and capital delivery projects.
All PPE, tools, van, and fuel card are provided.

Experience
- Strong practical understanding of operational plant and control systems is essential.
- Experience with Wonderware (desirable), ClearSCADA, relay logic, and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), including management and programming.
- Ability to read and fault find from circuit diagrams.
- Previous experience with inverter drives.
- Experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure levels, ultrasonics, and telemetry.

- Able to work across several sites within the assigned region.
- A valid driving licence is essential due to the nature of the role.

Qualifications
- Ideally qualified to HNC level or holding City and Guilds Part 2 or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an electrical subject.
