Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities which can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

Salary
Up to £57,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Technician to join our clean water team. Based at Hampton, you will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams including systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians. Your responsibilities will include installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards, diagnosing and repairing faults on systems and plants, and proactively identifying and reporting works for enhancement. You will deliver cost-effective improvements to assets and systems, helping to reduce pollution and positively impact Thames Water's environmental footprint.

Key duties include ensuring health and safety compliance, carrying out planned and defect maintenance on wastewater assets, recording work and asset information to improve business performance, providing specialist technical advice, coaching and developing staff including apprentices, and delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external customers in a professional and respectful manner.

All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and call.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation.
- Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Knowledge and experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), including management and programming.
- Ability to read and fault-find from circuit diagrams.
- Experience with inverter drives is desirable.
- Familiarity with Wonderware and Clear SCADA is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to identify issues and implement solutions or escalate as necessary.
- Excellent communication skills to provide technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and under own initiative.

Qualifications
- Ideally qualified to HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control and automation discipline.
- Preferably holds an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
