
Location
Rickmansworth, based at Maple Lodge Sewage Treatment Works (WD3 9SF) with travel to various outstations.
Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby and overtime opportunities available, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000 - £10,000 after essential company training.
Salary
Starting from £46,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Technician to join our team. This mobile role involves working safely, efficiently, and independently across various sites to maintain and optimise water production assets. Key responsibilities include installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of instrumentation such as level sensors, flow meters, and turbidity monitors. You will work with SCADA systems, PLCs (Rockwell & Allen-Bradley), and process control networks, liaising with contractors and suppliers as needed. The role also involves investigating asset failures and implementing timely repairs to ensure continuous water supply and compliance with statutory obligations. You will provide specialist technical advice and support training for apprentices. All necessary PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.

Experience
- Proven experience working with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen-Bradley), including management and programming.
- Experience in calibration and maintenance of frontline instrumentation.
- Ability to read and fault-find from circuit diagrams.
- Previous experience with inverter drives.
- Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems.
- Experience working with SCADA systems, ideally Wonderware and ClearSCADA.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Qualifications

- Up-to-date technical knowledge relevant to the role.
