38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby with opportunity to increase earnings by £8,000 to £10,000
Salary
Up to £47,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) or Control and Instrumentation (C&I) technician to join our Water Production Operations Team in the North East London region. This is a mobile role requiring work across various Water Treatment Works and borehole sites around Chingford, Walthamstow, Waltham Abbey, and Stonebridge Park.
You will work safely, efficiently, and effectively with minimum supervision, maintaining standards to meet statutory obligations and ensure asset availability and performance measures are upheld to manufacturers' standards.
The role involves installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of water production assets such as level instrumentation, flow meters, and turbidity monitors. You will work with SCADA systems, PLCs, and process control networks, liaise with contractors and suppliers, investigate asset failures, and implement repairs promptly to avoid supply interruptions.
You will provide specialist technical advice, maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, and support training for technical apprentices.
All PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.
Experience
- Knowledge and experience working with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen-Bradley), including management and programming
- Experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation
- Ability to read and fault-find from circuit diagrams
- Previous experience with inverter drives
- Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems
- Experience working with SCADA systems such as Wonderware and ClearSCADA is desirable

Qualifications
- Ideally qualified to HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in instrumentation, control and automation discipline
- Preferably holds an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification
