Location
Hatfield and surrounding areas, covering approximately 270 pumping stations of different sizes and complexities. Base location: Mill Green STW – AL9 5PE.

Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Overtime opportunities available, with potential to increase earnings by £5,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Salary
Up to £47,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

About the Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced instrumentation, control, and automation technician to join the sewage pumping team at Mill Green STW. You will work on a wide range of plant and equipment, some unique and innovative, ensuring sewage is efficiently removed from customers’ properties. As part of a close-knit, high-performing team, you will gain experience across various disciplines with great learning potential.

Your responsibilities will include working on pumps and associated control equipment, automated actuated valves and penstocks, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling, and dosing equipment. You will investigate plant failures, diagnose complex faults, and carry out repairs quickly to minimize customer interruptions. Scheduled planned maintenance on instrumentation, control, and automation equipment will be carried out in compliance with company standards to improve plant resilience.

All necessary PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card will be provided.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in calibration and maintenance of front-line instrumentation. Practical understanding of operational plant and control systems is essential. Experience with relay logic and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley), including management and programming. Ability to read and fault-find from circuit diagrams and experience with inverter drives. Knowledge of Wonderware and ClearSCADA is desirable.

Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry. Full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications
Ideally qualified to HNC level or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control and automation discipline. Preferably holds an 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification.
