About the Role
As a Landfill Aftercare & Maintenance Technician at Veolia, you will play a key role in supporting sustainable waste management and environmental protection. Your responsibilities will include balancing gas well fields and monitoring gas flare operations, conducting environmental sampling and monitoring (both scheduled and ad hoc), and performing regular site checks on leachate wells to analyse and resolve issues. You will maintain and install gas and leachate infrastructure such as compressors and pumps, carry out minor electrical works including problem identification and isolation, and perform well remediation and fusion welding of pipework. Additionally, you will manage leachate treatment plants, pumping, and storage systems where installed, conduct audits of infrastructure, and maintain equipment. Monitoring water, leachate, and gas levels and recording data in compliance with company procedures is essential. The role requires working independently in various weather conditions and includes out-of-hours call-outs when necessary. Experience
Basic mechanical and electrical skills desirable
Understanding of waste treatment biological processes preferred
Knowledge of gas systems infrastructure and well field balancing
Familiarity with leachate pumping systems desirable

About You
Valid driving licence essential
Strong appreciation of Health and Safety practices and safe work systems
Computer literacy required
Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
Good physical fitness for extensive walking on landfill sites
Environmental awareness

Qualifications
GCSE qualifications (preferably level C) in mathematics, English, and a science subject
