Lead Construction Assurance and Integration Engineer

Hampton, London (Hybrid – London and the Home Counties, based in the Thames Water area)
Hours
36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with 3-4 days on site per week
Salary
£60,000 to £68,000 per annum, plus a car allowance of £4,500 per year
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Construction Assurance and Integration Engineer to play a pivotal role in ensuring our contractors deliver infrastructure projects to the highest standards of time, quality, and cost. This critical leadership position involves managing a portfolio of projects and guiding a team of engineers through design, construction, and commissioning phases. Your expertise will ensure all work is buildable, compliant, efficient, and aligned with regulatory and statutory requirements, while maximising value for Thames Water and our customers.
- Ensure compliance with quality and environmental requirements in asset design and delivery, monitor delivery performance, and work with contractors to address issues and improve.
- Ensure compliance with current CDM regulations.
- Engage with Asset Management and Operations to identify synergies and apply lessons learned from previous projects to influence effective designs or solutions.
- Collaborate with design teams and contractors to resolve issues promptly, minimising impact on programme and cost.
- Assist design teams (contractors and internal) with practical, buildable solutions to meet project briefs.
- Verify and approve contractor project plans (Project Delivery Plan) and pre-construction materials, escalating any shortfalls promptly to avoid compromising Start on Site.
- Liaise with Operations and contractors to approve key milestones, focusing on Start on Site and Construction Complete.
- Monitor and approve Take Over tests from Construction Complete, managing total Takeovers.
- Coach and develop the team to maintain a challenging assurance culture, enabling engineers to competently review and advise project PMs on issues and resolutions.
Experience
- Chartered Engineer or substantial experience in a similar role.
- Considerable experience in construction practices within the water/wastewater industries.
- Proven track record as a problem solver on both Wastewater and Potable Water Infrastructure.
- Extensive knowledge in defining and supporting solutions to complex problems.
- Understanding of the development of design, construction, and operation of infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, both internal and external.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of construction practices.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
