About the Role
Join AECOM's UK Water team as a Lead Engineer specializing in River Restoration and Nature Schemes. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality projects involving nature recovery, rewilding, and river restoration. Your role includes planning, managing, modelling, designing, and supervising construction of nature recovery and river restoration schemes. You will work with a diverse team and collaborate with regulators, governments, water companies, wildlife trusts, estate managers, and developers nationally and internationally.

Your key responsibilities will include environmental engineering for nature recovery and restoration, river and wetland restoration, detailed river and watercourse engineering design, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, preparing designs and specifications, supervising contractors and construction works, and project management.

Current and recent projects include re-meandering and construction supervision for rivers designated as SSSI and SAC, nature recovery and countryside management for large estates, weir removals and fish passes across the UK, river basin scale restoration planning, and river management plans including flood hazard analysis in New Zealand.

As part of the Water Environment team, you will engage actively with clients and contribute to commercial aspects of projects. Health, safety, and environmental considerations are integral to all work. The team is multidisciplinary, including specialists in geomorphology, hydrology, hydro-ecology, water quality, and hydrogeology.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in river and waterway restoration with a strong track record of delivering projects that comply with design standards. Extensive project management and delivery experience. Experience leading CDM and design safety processes.

Qualifications
Degree in a relevant subject such as civil engineering or equivalent. Knowledge of environmental engineering principles related to nature recovery, river restoration, and hydromorphology is essential.
