About the Role
When you see the world as we do, you see the chance to help the world take better care of its resources and help it become a better place for everyone. We’re looking for a driven, creative communications professional who cares about the environment to take up an exciting ECO Lead role. This position involves working on recycling projects and engaging with the community to inspire change. Whether you aim to overhaul the industry or simply do a good day’s work, you will help Veolia work alongside communities, look after the environment, and contribute to an inclusive culture.

As an Education, Communications and Outreach (ECO) Lead, you will develop and deliver community engagement and service improvement projects across Haringey, changing resident behaviours to reduce waste and increase recycling. You will ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, demonstrate measurable results, and meet agreed timelines. You will manage ECO and social value commitments at contract level and ensure strategic annual and project plans meet objectives. You will provide general communications support for the contract and maintain day-to-day contact with Client Officers and Contract Managers.

The Local ECO Lead will be supported by an Area ECO Manager and will share best practice and expertise with colleagues across a fantastic, award-winning national ECO team.

You will build strong relationships with our key client (Haringey Council) and Veolia colleagues across multiple contracts, quickly responding to queries and providing solutions to maintain a high standard of service. You will lead on ECO delivery, manage and report on the social value function of the contract, and design and deliver specific projects to achieve contractual commitments for Veolia Haringey.

You will drive the ECO performance of the Haringey contract through effective project planning and a bespoke community engagement approach. You will deliver a programme of strategic social value initiatives across local employment, community and staff engagement, and manage funding programmes for local communities.

Supporting recruitment into the operational team by fostering relationships with external partners, delivering webinars and workshops to offer career advice will be part of your role. You will also conduct dedicated school and college visits to deliver assemblies.

Identifying good news stories and feeding them to the regional external engagement team, as well as working closely with this team to showcase our expertise in behaviour change and social value delivery across digital channels and press, will be key responsibilities. You will work closely with the senior ECO team to develop and deliver internal communications campaigns.

You will work within a wider ECO team for North London and the home counties with occasional travel to other contracts for team development and supportive working.

If you love developing relationships, delivering social value, and engaging with communities, local authorities and frontline teams, then this is the role for you.
