£32,000 - £38,600 per year
About the Role
North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Maintenance Craftsperson - Multi-skilled with strong plumbing experience to join our busy and supportive Estates & Facilities team. This vital hands-on role involves maintaining key mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that support the safe running of the hospital site. You will deliver a mix of planned and reactive maintenance, respond to emergency breakdowns, and support refurbishment and upgrade works. The role requires working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring all work complies with relevant safety regulations and procedures. You will also participate in a 1-in-4 on-call rota, carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and statutory checks, and supervise or support junior staff and apprentices when required.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship or training scheme experience.
- Demonstrated experience in plumbing maintenance and installation.
- Strong fault-finding and repair skills.
- Comfortable working in varied environments including at height and confined spaces.
- Experience in healthcare, commercial, or public-sector estates is desirable.
- Familiarity with HVAC, fire safety, and water systems is advantageous.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds / BTEC National Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Additional specialist qualifications are desirable.
