Role Overview
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager to join a growing design and build consultancy delivering retrofit, refurbishment and decarbonisation projects across the UK.
Based in Wilmslow, this role will focus on managing the delivery of mechanical and electrical building services projects across public sector, commercial and large residential buildings. You will take ownership of projects from early design coordination through to installation, commissioning and handover.
This is a technically focused role suited to someone with strong M&E experience who can manage multiple projects, coordinate contractors and ensure high standards of quality, safety and compliance.
Projects typically include low carbon heating systems, ventilation, electrical upgrades and renewable technologies such as solar PV and heat pumps.
What You’ll Do
• Manage mechanical and electrical projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover
• Coordinate design, procurement, installation and commissioning phases
• Oversee contractors and specialist suppliers across multiple sites
• Manage project programmes, budgets and cost forecasts
• Lead site meetings and coordinate with internal teams and clients
• Monitor quality, workmanship and technical compliance
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM and health and safety standards
• Oversee commissioning, testing, snagging and defect resolution
• Prepare progress, cost and risk reports
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience delivering mechanical and electrical building services projects
• Experience managing projects typically ranging from £25,000 to £1 million
• Strong technical understanding of M&E systems
• Experience working in live or occupied environments
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CDM and health and safety requirements
• Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors simultaneously
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
• Background in Building Services Engineering or M&E contracting
• Experience within design and build environments
• Familiarity with low carbon and renewable technologies
• Project management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2 or similar
Pay, Hours, Location, Start Date
• £45,000 to £60,000 basic salary depending on experience
• Total package up to £50,000 to £65,000 including benefits
• Monday to Friday with flexible start and finish times
• Hybrid working with 2 days from home and 3 days office based
• Wilmslow, Cheshire
