Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Engineer to support the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance across a growing portfolio of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Location within 1 hour of Winchester
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring high system uptime, safety compliance, and operational performance. There may also be opportunities to support Solar PV assets, subject to appropriate electrical qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
· Carry out scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance on EV charging infrastructure.
· Perform electrical testing, system diagnostics, firmware updates, and performance verification.
· Complete detailed service reports and update maintenance management systems.
· Identify potential faults or performance issues before failure occurs.
· Ensure all works comply with relevant safety standards and regulations.
Reactive Maintenance
· Respond to fault calls within agreed SLAs.
· Diagnose and rectify electrical, communication, and mechanical faults.
· Liaise with remote monitoring teams and manufacturers for fault resolution.
· Restore systems to full operational status with minimal downtime.
· Escalate complex technical issues where necessary.
EV Infrastructure Operations & Maintenance
· Maintain AC and DC EV chargers across commercial, public, and fleet installations.
· Support commissioning activities where required.
· Assist with network connectivity troubleshooting (OCPP, back-office systems, communications).
· Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure vehicle stock levels are adequate.
· Provide technical support to clients and stakeholders.
Solar PV (Where Electrically Qualified)
· Support maintenance of Solar PV systems where required.
· Perform inspection and testing of inverters, panels, and associated electrical infrastructure.
· Assist with performance monitoring and fault diagnostics.
· Ensure compliance with grid and safety requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
· Electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
· 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
· Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.
· Experience with planned preventative maintenance schedules.
· Full UK driving licence (or relevant regional equivalent).
Desirable:
· Experience working with EV charging infrastructure (AC/DC systems).
· Solar PV installation or maintenance experience.
· Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
· Knowledge of communication systems and remote monitoring platforms.
· ECS/CSCS card.
