Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated O&M Engineer to join our EV & Maintenance Team, supporting a diverse portfolio of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the Midlands.
This field-based role involves working on all types of EV charge points, delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to ensure high uptime, safety, and performance standards.
There may also be opportunities to support Solar PV systems, subject to relevant electrical qualifications.
Location - Midlands within 1.5 hours of Coventry, covering East Anglia, West Midlands, and Wales
Key Responsibilities
EV Infrastructure Maintenance
· Carry out maintenance across a wide range of EV charge points (AC and DC, single and three-phase systems).
· Work on commercial, public, workplace, and fleet charging installations.
· Perform inspections, testing, diagnostics, and firmware updates.
· Ensure systems operate in line with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
· Maintain accurate documentation and service records.
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
· Deliver scheduled maintenance activities in accordance with PPM programmes.
· Conduct electrical testing and safety inspections.
· Identify potential issues before failure occurs.
· Provide condition reports and recommendations for asset lifecycle management.
· Ensure compliance with current electrical and safety regulations.
Reactive Maintenance
· Respond to breakdowns and fault calls within agreed SLAs.
· Diagnose and resolve electrical, communication, and hardware faults.
· Coordinate with technical support teams and manufacturers where required.
· Restore chargers to full operational status efficiently.
· Escalate complex technical issues appropriately.
Solar PV (Where Electrically Qualified)
· Support inspection and maintenance of Solar PV systems.
· Conduct inverter checks, panel inspections, and system diagnostics.
· Assist with performance monitoring and reporting.
· Ensure compliance with relevant grid and safety standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
· Immediate Start
· Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
· 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
· Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding.
· Experience delivering planned preventative maintenance programmes.
· Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
· Experience working with EV charging infrastructure (AC/DC systems).
· Inspection & Testing qualification (2391 or equivalent).
· Solar PV installation or maintenance experience.
· ECS/CSCS card. Knowledge of network communications and remote monitoring systems.
