We are currently seeking a hardworking and reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to support communal garden maintenance services for social housing and housing association clients in Epsom and surrounding areas.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role requiring applicants to be physically fit and capable of performing a wide range of duties in all weather conditions. If you have a passion for outdoor work and attention to detail, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Follow schedules set out for assigned routes and complete all tasks efficiently
- Operate rotary mowers, ride-on mowers, strimmers, and other equipment
- Carry out grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning, and general garden maintenance
- Perform weed control using appropriate chemicals (in line with COSHH regulations)
- Maintain flower beds, shrubs, and landscaped areas
- Carry out litter picking and ensure sites are clean and presentable
- Sweep paths, clear debris, and tidy areas after completing work
- Assist with planting and landscaping tasks when required
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in a clean and safe condition
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures, including correct use of PPE
- Report any issues, incidents, or site-specific concerns to supervisors
Responsibilities Include
- Conducting risk assessments before starting work
- Ensuring company vehicles are maintained and checked regularly
- Placing safety signage and cones where required
- Communicating effectively with team members and management
- Completing job reports and updating work schedules as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance (preferred)
- Full UK manual driving licence (essential)
- Must be over 21 years old (insurance purposes)
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude
- Eligible to live and work in the UK
Working Hours & Pay
- Full-time role (40 hours per week)
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
- Overtime available (including occasional Saturdays)
- Salary starting from £27,352 per year (depending on experience)
