38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota upon completion of essential company training

About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our maintenance team covering Southwest London. You will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. This role ensures all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers and contributes to reducing pollution from our sites.
- Carry out scheduled, planned, and reactive inspection and maintenance work on a variety of clean water assets.
- Investigate mechanical and electrical plant failures and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the water supply, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
- Work on equipment such as larger pumps, smaller chemical dosing pumps, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems including VSDs, automatic valves, and flow, level, and pressure measurement devices.
- Provide technical advice based on up-to-date knowledge and support or train technical trainees as required.
- Participate in a 24/7 standby rota after suitable training and assessment (approximately once every six weeks).
All PPE, tools, and a company van are provided.

Requirements

Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Experience working on mechanical plant and electrical systems, ideally including pumps, actuated valves, and electronic control systems such as VSD.
- Proven ability in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification, or repair of mechanical plant and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry is beneficial.
- Physically capable of working in restricted access areas such as chambers.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, using own initiative to design and meet standards.
- Team player who supports the development of others.
- Proactive in recommending improvements and communicating effectively.
- Excellent communicator with a good standard of English.
- Full UK driving licence.

Problem-solving mindset with a can-do attitude, proactive and able to take the lead on site recommendations and improvements. You work well both independently and as part of a team, supporting colleagues and trainees. You are physically fit to carry out the role and committed to maintaining high health and safety standards.

Qualifications
Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in mechanical or electrical engineering is required. Full UK driving licence is essential.
