About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our maintenance team covering Southwest London. You will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment safely, efficiently, and with minimum supervision. Your work ensures all sites remain operational, benefiting our customers and helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
Your responsibilities will include carrying out scheduled, planned, and reactive inspection and maintenance on a variety of clean water assets. You will investigate mechanical and electrical plant failures, diagnose complex faults, and carry out repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid interruptions to the water supply. Equipment you will work on includes larger pumps, smaller chemical dosing pumps, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSDs, automatic valves, and flow, level, and pressure measurement devices.
You will provide technical advice based on up-to-date knowledge and may support or train technical trainees. After suitable training and assessment, you will participate in a 24/7 standby rota, approximately once every six weeks. All PPE, tools, and a company van are provided.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Experience working on mechanical plant and electrical systems, including pumps, actuated valves, and electronic control systems such as VSD.
- Proven ability in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification, or repair of mechanical plant and electrical equipment.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry is beneficial.
- Physically capable of working in restricted access chambers.
