Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:36 PM. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities available, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £31,130 per annum base salary, with potential overall package earnings up to £45,000 depending on skills and experience, plus additional standby and overtime payments.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Water Operations team at Orpington WTW. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring minimal plant breakdown and supporting continuous operation.
Your duties will include investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs efficiently to avoid process interruptions, diagnosing complex faults, and providing technical advice and training support to trainees when required. You will work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, electronic control systems including VSDs, automatic valves, measurement instruments, PLCs, variable speed drives, and chemical dosing equipment.
You will complete statutory checks, always work safely in compliance with Health and Safety procedures, and be prepared to receive training on the water treatment process. All PPE, tools, fuel card, and van are provided.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice or significant experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity.
- Previous electrical apprenticeship experience is essential.
Qualifications
- ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical engineering with upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 and 18th Edition.
- Ideally upskilled with a mechanical qualification enabling inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification, or repair of mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
- Valid driving licence is essential.
