Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30am - 3:36pm. Plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities to increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Crossness STW. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. This role involves operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem-solving to deliver services to time, cost, and quality standards. You will carry out planned and preventive maintenance to support plant operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prioritising health, safety, and well-being of yourself and others by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines.
- Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, fixing or escalating issues, and installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance, identifying future risks, and recommending changes.
- Providing specialist technical advice, coaching, training, and developing staff, including apprentices.
- Delivering excellent customer service by interacting professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
All PPE, tools, fuel card, and provisional use of a company van are provided.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Experience in reactive and planned maintenance, fault finding, and installation of plant and equipment.
- Proven ability to provide technical expertise and communicate effectively with internal and external staff and contractors.

Qualifications
- Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
- Mechanical NVQ Level 2 or 3 upskill is crucial.
