38 Hours Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:36 PM. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities available, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Base salary up to £31,130 per annum. Total package earnings up to £45,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus additional standby and overtime payments.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join the Water Operations team at Orpington WTW. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring minimal plant breakdown and supporting continuous operation.
Your duties will include investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs efficiently to avoid process interruptions, diagnosing complex faults, and providing technical advice and training to trainees when required. You will work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw and chain conveyors, centrifuges, pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, electronic control systems including VSDs, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, PLCs, variable speed drives, and chemical handling and dosing equipment.
You will complete statutory checks, always work safely in compliance with Health and Safety procedures, and be prepared to receive training on the water treatment process. All PPE, tools, fuel card, and van are provided to support your role.

Experience
- Time-served apprentice or significant experience in electrical systems working in a true multi-skilled capacity.
- Previous electrical apprenticeship experience is essential.
- Experience with mechanical qualifications allowing inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification, or repair of mechanical and electrical plant equipment safely and efficiently is highly desirable.

Qualifications
- ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
- Upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ 2/3 and 18th Edition wiring regulations.
- Mechanical and electrical qualifications to support multi-skilled maintenance work.
