Hours
38 Hours Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Plus, standby rota payments and overtime opportunities to increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.

About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Crossness STW. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown.
This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by performing front-line activities including operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem-solving to deliver services on time, within cost, and to quality standards. You will carry out planned and preventive maintenance to support plant operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prioritising health, safety, and well-being of yourself and others by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines.
- Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, fixing issues or escalating as needed.
- Installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance and identifying future risks.
- Providing specialist technical advice and coaching, including supporting the apprenticeship programme.
- Delivering excellent customer service by interacting professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
All PPE, tools, fuel card, and provisional use of a company van are provided.

Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems.
- NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
- Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering with mechanical NVQ2/3 upskill is crucial.

Qualifications
- Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualifications as listed above.
- Mechanical NVQ2/3 upskill is essential.
