Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities available, with potential to increase earnings by £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Crossness STW. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team responsible for scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown.
This role involves performing a range of front-line activities including operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem-solving to deliver services to time, cost, and quality standards. You will carry out planned and preventive maintenance to support plant operation.
Key responsibilities include ensuring health and safety compliance, undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding, installing new plant and equipment in line with standards and regulations, recording work and asset information, identifying risks and recommending improvements, providing specialist technical advice, coaching and training staff including apprentices, and delivering excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or equivalent NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Proven ability to undertake reactive and planned maintenance, fault finding, and problem solving.
- Experience providing technical expertise and coaching to staff and contractors.

Qualifications
- Electrical apprenticeship or ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
- Mechanical NVQ Level 2/3 upskill is essential.
- Completion of essential company training to access standby rota payments and overtime.
