Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm, plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities which can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
As a Mechanical & Electrical Technician, you will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment. You will work safely, efficiently, and effectively with minimum supervision to ensure all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact by actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors by complying with Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines.
- Undertake reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms, fault find, fix or escalate issues, and install new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Record work and asset information to improve business performance, identify potential risks, and recommend changes for resolution.
- Provide specialist technical advice, coaching, training, and development to staff under your supervision, including apprentices.
- Deliver excellent customer experience by interacting professionally, efficiently, respectfully, and politely with internal and external customers.
All PPE, tools, and a company van are provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or holding NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Proven problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions or escalate as required.
- Excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to internal and external staff and contractors.

Qualifications
- NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent time-served apprenticeship qualification.
