Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities available, with potential to increase earnings by £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Crossness STW. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdown. This role involves operation, testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem-solving to ensure services are delivered to time, cost, and quality standards. Responsibilities include planned and preventive maintenance of equipment to support plant operation, responding to alarms, fault finding, installing new plant and equipment, recording work and asset information, and providing specialist technical advice. You will also coach, train, and develop staff including apprentices, while delivering excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Health, safety, and wellbeing are a top priority, and you will be expected to comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Experience
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or equivalent NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- Proven ability in reactive and planned maintenance, fault finding, and problem solving.
- Experience providing technical expertise and coaching to staff and contractors.

Qualifications
- Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering.
- Mechanical NVQ Level 2/3 upskill is crucial.
