Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm plus standby rota payments and overtime opportunities which can increase earning potential by up to £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
Salary
Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, plus company van, tools, and PPE provided.
About the Role
We are recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Clean Water Division. You will use your mechanical and electrical knowledge and experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely, and effective manner with minimum supervision. Your work ensures all sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers and helps reduce pollution from our sites, making a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prioritising health, safety, and wellbeing by complying with Health and Safety regulations and Thames Water’s guidelines.
- Undertaking reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms, fault finding, fixing issues or escalating as necessary.
- Installing new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Recording work and asset information to improve business performance and identifying potential risks for resolution.
- Providing specialist technical advice and coaching, training, and developing staff, including apprentices.
- Delivering excellent customer experience by interacting professionally and respectfully with internal and external customers.
All PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.
Experience
Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical and electrical systems or holding NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical or electrical engineering.

Qualifications
NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
